The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Centre has been predominantly a Norway spruce, with a couple of Balsam firs or White spruces, since the first tree went up in 1933.  Because of the narrow streets, the tree is limited to a height of 100'.   It usually goes up in mid November, with the lighting ceremony this year on December 3rd.

The tree  on the facade of the art deco Radio City Music Hall usually arrives in mid-October.  There are 57,000 individual LED lights in "red and warm white programmed to create soft  movement such as waves and fades"

I've never been to Taipei, but I love this metro map.  It shows the different trains, is colour coded, is in English, and has handy tips.  Plus which stations are near those all important night markets!

 

Manhattan was probably the easiest, most walkable, city I've traveled to, but this map would be handy to have for orienting yourself, especially for those bridges over the East River

little church

A peaceful country oasis in the middle of Manhattan.

Officially it is the Church of the Transfiguration (Episcopal), Built in 1849.

When actors were considered outcasts, a neighbouring church refused to officiate funeral services and suggested that "there is a little church around the corner where they do that sort of thing" and it has since had a longstanding association with the theatre.
