I spent so much time looking for Q and X, that I forgot how challenging Y might be...

though Germany has a Y, there isn't a Y in  this Deutschland stamp 

maybe "youngsters"?  Bibi & Tina are fictional teenagers who apparently have exciting adventures  with their beloved horses (one is a witch with magical powers)

And Ukraine has a letter that looks like a Y 

though it is pronounced more like "oo"

Children's toys were the theme for 1979 Christmas stamps.  It was the Year of the Child that year, and antique toys were photographed by Arnaud Maggs.

Here we have a wooden train and, instead of the rocking horses of last week, a rolling horse

As of June 16, 2023, Canada's population reached 40 million. In 1967, we were 20 million. In 2000, these children were putting the puzzle of Canada together.

I have this sheet in a frame by my desk because it always makes me smile. I love the brightly coloured outfits the children are wearing. One of my pet peeves is seeing so many people dressed in black all winter long. It is such a depressing colour when there is so little bright light outside. These children were bucking that trend and making a fashion statement in 2008 with their whimsical hats and pastel coloured patterns. It is sad to think that when they grow up this eye-catching fashion will likely be abandoned for the not-to-be-noticed black.

Children's Day

Every year, on November 14, India celebrates Children's Day and the postal department releases a special stamp.

The elephant in this illustration is known as Gajju. He is a 'dancing golden baby elephant' mascot for the International Children's Film Festival (which is popularly known as the Golden Elephant). It is illustrated by Sigrun Srivastav.

1968, Zambia

Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa bordering eight other countries. The name comes from the Zambezi River which may mean 'River of God'. Before independence in 1964 it was known as Northern Rhodesia. About half the population are under 16 years of age. UNICEF is vital in helping with education, poverty, and widespread AID/HIV as well as malaria.
