I appreciate how much information is included in these Lithuanian lighthouse stamps. 

Originally built in 1796, this one was completely destroyed in WWII and reconstructed and renovated in 1953.  The focal height is 44 metres and the light range is 33 km (21 mi, or 18 nautical miles)

Also known as 'Ragged Point' Lighthouse, this one is on the most easterly point of Barbados looking out over the Atlantic.  I read that there was a plan afoot to restore it, but I don't think that happened.  This is one of four (and the only one I have) stamps from 2013 celebrating the four lighthouses in Barbados.  None of them are open.

Borkum is an island in northwestern Germany.  This Great Lighthouse is still in use after 145 years.  At 60 metres tall it is a landfall light for the Ems estuary and a day marker for the port of Emdem.

The 34' cast iron Pelican Point Lighthouse at Walvis Bay, Namibia.  It sits on a sandbar that keeps growing.  Once located at the edge of the peninsula, it is now 2 km inland.  Beside the lighthouse is a tourist lodge.  When this was built, Namibia was part of South Africa.

North Reef, Queensland, built in 1878. It lies 100 km offshore at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.  It is the only lighthouse in Australia with accommodation inside the tower that is still standing in its original location.  It was originally on a small sandbank over the coral reef, but over time the structure caused sand to build up around it and now it stands on a substantial sand island complete with vegetation.

215 years ago today, a woman who would become a nation's heroine was born in Bamburgh. Her family were living in Longstone Lighthouse when she saw a shipwreck. Her help and bravery in rescuing nine survivors propelled her into fame and wealth. It was shortlived as she died of TB four years later.

The Red River Lighthouse. It was originally at the mouth of the Red River near Winnipeg (from 1904) but, as with many lighthouses, it was decommissioned (1992) and now sits at the Maritime Museum
