1980s (?) Netherlands

The 19 windmills at Kinderdijk, near Rotterdam, have been a UNESCO site since 1997.
The windmills themselves have been there since 1740.
Although I've been to Holland several times, I've only been to the Rotterdam area once, in 1980.

Windmills are a favourite theme of mine.

All these old windmills must be an impressive sight. (I wonder if there was as much debate about them back when they were built, as there is nowadays about the modern wind power stations?)

Oh wow! I didn't know that there were 19 windmills in this UNESCO site. I received a postcard from there and it was only featuring a single windmill. What a pity! Thanks for this information and for sharing the postcards with several windmills :D
