violets

unsent, early 1900s

Violets are the birth flower for February and symbolizes faithfulness, modesty.
They are also associated with death and resurrection, so are often seen as Easter flowers.
I couldn't not post something for this week's theme, could I?!

A pretty card, and Easter is not far away now.

Such a lovely card. I didn't know the traditions associated with violets -- cool!

Lovely card; and I learned something I didn't know about the traits associated with violets.

Very pretty. I have more respect for violets now.

Such a pretty card. We used to give them to our Mums on Mothering Sunday.

Having been born in February, I guess Violets are then my birth flower. Cool. They are so quiet and gentle - not at all like me, but . . . oh well. :))

I was thinking about the wild violets I used to find in the woods in spring when I lived in the north woods.

Yes it is a lovely card - something about the design of it and the balance of the drawing.

We've got wild violets in our mountains here, but the African violets which people have in their homes are also beautiful...and I never can get mine to bloom. Glad that soon there will be some wild ones. Lovely card!

A most lovely card, and when I discover these for sale, I snap them up and have mailed them out!

Your card may have the same flowers that are worn by the young woman on my post this weekend! She has a corsage of sorts but since it is a sepia tone photo I didn't recognize them, but the blossom shape is so similar to these that it now adds a violet color I could not see.
