Jasper has been a park since 1907, renamed as a National Park since 1930.  Since 1984 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site

I love those trees on the little island, they look as though they are gathering for a meeting.
I had no gardens, but also was saved by trees here

Do you mean the name? Apparently the river that flows into it was the fast flowing dangerous bit when the explorers found it. Or do you mean why is Spirit Island in the lake the most photographed in Jasper? I don't know, but it is postcard perfect ;)

To me, the trees look like they gathered to avoid touching the water, like when playing "crocodile!"
