Dating back to 1517, this former coaching inn in the town of Market Harborough was chosen by King Charles I as a rest stop on his way to the Battle of Naseby in 1645 during the Civil War (he lost)

I always liked the postcards like this one showing the restaurant and the bedroom... don't know why :-)
These are old cards - I collect them at postcard shows. One of my favourite thematics is hotels and motels. I also like to see the rooms and restaurants - some are dated just enough that I remember staying in similar ones!
