Sunday Stamps II - 32

Wild Orchids of Canada issued 27 April 1999
for the (15th) World Orchid Conference held for the first time in Canada
The four stamp set was reissued in August 1999 marking the '99 World Philatelic Exhibition in Beijing
The stamps are from paintings by Poon-Kuen Chow (white background)
and Yukman Lai (purple background)
clockwise from top left:
Large Yellow Lady's Slipper
Small Purple Fringed Orchid
Dragon's Mouth Orchid
Hulten Roundleaf Orchid

  1. Beautiful stamps and cover, the stamp shape suits the art perfectly. The bee flying in on the cancel is a nice touch. I love coming upon orchids in the wild, fascinating flowers.

  2. Unfortunately we cannot find many wild orchids where we live. Love the FDC and all the stamps.

  3. Stunning stamps, and an even more stunning FDC.

  4. I agree with Joy, the bee on the cancel is a nice touch! I think we have some wild orchids back in my home island in PH. Ground orchids are more common in gardens though.
