This Estonian Town Hall Square has been a marketplace since the middle ages. It looks like it might just be setting up, or closing down, in this image. The building on the far left is the town hall and on top of the spire is a weather vane that has been there since 1530.
Below is another town square, this time in Lithuania. Kaunas is the second largest city in that country and was a temporary capital during the interwar period. The building in the centre is the town hall. The rivers are the Nemunis and Neris.

I've been to Estonian Town Hall Square once during Christmas and it was quite atmospheric.
I'd never really thought about visiting any of these countries - until getting so many postcards from them.
How interesting a city built on a confluence of rivers. It makes it a nice backdrop.

Thanks. I had chosen the area before the actual postcards, and was surprised to find all the town squares, so had to go with it!
I remember being in Tallinn in the summer, and this was a very lively place. I'd really like to visit the rest of those squares!
