Some inventions are so obvious and common sense that we forget that it took a spark of genious from someone, sometime in the loooooooong past to first come up with them. That's the case of the foldable hand fan, believed to have originated in Japan, around the 8th century (during the Heian or Nara period).
How far have we come since that first invention. However I'm having a small steampunk dream of a speedy postal service with multi deliveries and collections every day all enhanced by the telegraph system for great distances. My inventions are here
It is incredible to think about how much the invention of the telephone completely reshaped human connection. It brought families closer together and made the world feel infinitely smaller. Great stamps!!
And now we have a generation (or more) of those who never knew a landline. Never able to leave a message, just wait and call again if they weren't home. We survived just fine! Mine: https://thisandthatablog.blogspot.com/2026/09/sunday-stamps-celebrating-inventions.html
An incredible invention - I wonder if Bell had any idea how ubiquitous phones would become? My stamps are here: https://envelope100.blogspot.com/2026/09/subday-stamps-innovation.html

Communicating through postcards and letters? Phew, that would be really awful! ;)
My celebration is here.

I have been traveling and traveling and can't find stamps to share, or time to share them. Hopefully next week.
