Celebrating the Royal Silver Wedding of George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
The Republic of The Gambia is the smallest country in Africa and is surrounded almost entirely by Senegal with a coastline in the Atlantic. It is a long, narrow country that borders the Gambia River. It lies between latitudes 13° and 14°N and longitudes 13° and 17°W. It's only one of two countries whose short form of its name begins with 'The'.
for the letter G - Gambia, George VI
I was about to say, this is one of the rare Queen stamps I like, and than it dawned on me it is the other Queen :D
ReplyDeleteI think it is a very interesting design in that the queen is obscuring most of the king's face. A nice classic stamp.
ReplyDeleteso many double letter scores today I feel pressure before posting mine lol this stamp is aesthetically very pleasing
ReplyDeleteNot the stamps I would expect from The Gambia!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed learning about Gambia with this stamp.
ReplyDeleteQuite a lot of the commonwealth countries used that picture with different design tweaks. Its a rather nice portrait.
ReplyDeleteGambia is a country we don't hear much about. I don't remember much about the wedding celebrations - but was only 11 at the time.
