Before its Independence in 1977, Djibouti was known as French Somaliland as well as The French Territory of the Afars and the Issas. It lies in the Horn of Africa bordering Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea, and the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Currently (2016) there Are 846,690 people living there.

I'm in Djibouti as well with a locomotive that crossed the country when it was French Somali Coast way before independence.
ReplyDeleteI like how they have made the green in the flag look like a coastline. I always think the name territory of the Affars and the Issas sounds like something out of an old adventure story.
