1946 Dominican Republic, 10 centavos
An airmail stamp showing the air routes to the capitol city, Cuidad Trujillo. The city of Santo Domingo was renamed by the Dominican Republic's dictator Rafael Trujillo after himself in 1936. Following his assassination in 1961, it reverted back to Santo Domingo.
for maps or flags
I wish I had more map stamps like this.
ReplyDeleteA nice take on air mail. Interesting they have named checked all the countries apart from Haiti next door.
ReplyDeleteI love maps, and this stamp really is a beauty. Also for the details / completeness by mentioning the neighbouring places' names, too!
ReplyDeleteI see the widget is gone, however I have a late entry at http://envelope100.blogspot.com/2015/10/sunday-stamps-on-tuesday-flags.html
ReplyDeleteI love the stamp you've chosen, there's a lot of detail in a small space.
