issued 2013 with a value of €0.58 (at the time of issue)
part of the series 'workhorses of our regions' in this case the Gironde region
but there is man working behind the horse as they make their way between the rows of vines which will eventually become Bordeaux wine. The man ploughing is quite diminutive compared to his working horse!
the graphic design is by Elodie Dumoulin
for people at work
also sharing with Sepia Saturday for horses (pure co-incidence, especially since I forgot!)
Super.
ReplyDeleteThe French La Poste does issue some lovely series.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful horse, I'd never thought of them being used in vineyards.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that we use stamps to highlight different facets and events in our world.
ReplyDeleteI bet that horse would have a better life than the ones that pulled the coal carts. A good stamp find, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHorses at work always make interesting stamps sets. I haven't seen this one before - thanks for choosing it.
ReplyDeleteNice stamp. Isn't the man ploughing?
ReplyDeleteIt’s a lovely stamp.
ReplyDeleteWork horses are very much bigger than people!
ReplyDeleteMight have been a percheron...they are very large and were the most prevalent working horses in France. They have large feet and beautiful manes just like the horse on your card.
ReplyDeleteThis scene makes me nostalgic to those days that I could watch my grandpa plow the ricefields. Only that, he had a water buffalo in front of him instead of a horse.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see a horse pulling plow or whatever on a stamp...he's a beauty!
