The horses on Sable Island are wild and protected from humans. It is illegal to touch, feed or treat them. They have suvrived on the island since the 1700s and have stocky bodies with thick woolly, shaggy coats.

Beautiful stamp! I think we are going to see a lot of horses on stamps this year!
ReplyDeleteMy H-stamps are here.
You may be right. Even though this is a useful high value (but big!) I can't quite bare to part with it just yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great stamp! Love to see the protection given to these wild horses. My H is here: https://envelope100.blogspot.com/2026/03/h-is-for-hortensia.html

That's a nice one. I like the sketchy-ness of it. So, do they have to round them up periodically to keep numbers down, like with the ones on Assateague in Virginia?

A nice island life. More horses here
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stamp, and beautiful animals. So glad they are protected from humans!
ReplyDeleteLisa, no they are left completely alone to live their lives as they can
