vintage and contemporary postcards and stamps from around the world

breadbasket

Ukraine is known as the 'Breadbasket of Europe" due, in part, to its fertile steppes of black soil. With Russia's recent move into Crimea and now controlling many of the Black Sea ports used by Ukraine for export, this could be in jeopardy.
The stamps of traditional breads are from 2013. On the left is a loaf and on the right is a braided kalach.

What a wonderful postcard, I like how they have used the scarf. Sadly it is a map that is being redrawn. I love bread and experiencing other nations versions, these look delicious.

I was hoping someone would post stamps from the Ukraine this week as I get visitors from there on my blog.. Unfortunately I don't have any. You two make me think of breakfast bagels.

So glad to have you join us this week. Yes Ukraine is a country in the news (sadly) and I worry about what may happen there.
